The activity of sitting behind a horse pulling a carriage is a simple one that anyone can enjoy. As your interest grows, you will find out that there is more to it than you thought.
As a trainer and instructor for the hobby and sport of carriage driving, I’m passionate about helping people learn more about it. Ever since I started this website in the late 1990’s, I’ve tried to share some of my knowledge and experience here, even as I’ve been gaining it. You’ll find information about carriages, harness, training and lots of other subjects. They range from simple practical things like harness care, to more complex issues like how to teach horses fundamental skills of dressage. I’ll be adding to these articles every month with “The Exercise of the Month” as part of “The Coachman’s Guide” newsletter. To sign up for the newsletter, click here.
The Coachman’s Guide is a collection of the learning that I’ve experienced over the past 15 years of driving. It is from this experience that I make my living, and it is because I make my living at this that I can share it with you. I hope you enjoy what your read and learn here.
Your support is greatly appreciated in the many ways that you can show it. Should you enjoy these articles, please tell your friends about them.
If you are looking for a truly fun learning experience, attend a clinic that I am teaching, or host a clinic for me in your area. When you are in need of driving equipment, please give us a chance to fill that need. By all means, share with us your thoughts, experiences and feedback with us. Your questions and comments are always welcome.
Enjoy the site!
