- Training & instruction costs $75 per session.
- As each horse & student is an individual with needs unique to their stage of training the duration of each session will be as long or short as necessary for the same rate (within reason). Generally speaking lessons last about 50 minutes, but may run longer.
- Prices for multiples (i.e. 4-in-hand, tandem, unicorn) may be slightly higher on an individual basis, depending on the amount of extra time they require.
Lessons can be conducted at your farm in Boston's Metro-West region. There are several locations available, including Sherborn, MA for those wishing to "truck in". Please call for details.
Lessons and training are conducted Tuesday through Sunday. My schoolmaster, Zach, is ready and waiting for any who wish to drive a well seasoned driving horse. Appointments should be made 1 to 2 weeks in advance.
If you are outside of the normal traveling area you may host me for a day or half day of driving. 3 consecutive drivers or training sessions are required in areas with in an hour to an hour and half travel time from my regular training routes. 5 consecutive sessions are required beyond an hour and a half's travel.
Please check my calendar for lesson days already scheduled, perhaps one will be in your area.

Zachary – 1995 16. hand high Friesian Gelding. "The Schoolmaster"
Zach is in many ways the ultimate teacher. He is quite well seasoned, with many years of experience in the show ring, on the road and in the fields. He's pretty darn close to bomb-proof, with very few things that upset him. That said, if something is going to get his attention, he's certainly not going to get himself or anyone else hurt worrying about it. So the beginner driver can feel very safe and secure with Zach as the teacher. However, it's the advancing driver that really begins to gain from Zach's experience. While this horse won't do much wrong, he'll do no right that the driver or rider hasn't done first. That is hugely important for someone who is truly looking to gain a greater understanding of driving a horse. He's not going just throw you a bone for the sake of getting the job done. When the student does ask correctly, Zach can become a lot of horse all at once! I still find driving Zach a thrill, because even after long periods without work, he can still pull some incredible movement out of his trunk!
Zach is available for an on-farm partial lease, in Norfolk, MA. The cost of the lease is $450 per month, which means Zach will be available to be ridden or driven 3 days per week for the month. The lease requires a minimum of two lessons per month with me. (Andy Marcoux).
