MCDS Arena Trial Fun Day

Directions  |  Class List  |  Entry Form

The Massachusetts Carriage and Driving Society is having an Arena Driving Trial Fun Day on Sunday April 29 at Riverfront Farm in Concord, MA. Our judge is Andy Marcoux.

We've changed the format to make this event more like a clinic. Dressage tests will be driven twice, with advice given by the judge prior to the second drive and Cones will be driven twice (best scores taken for the awards). Obstacles will be driven twice (like a normal ADT). Entries can choose what they want to do. We are making each part a separate class with awards, plus awards for those that did the entire ADT. We've also included a Presentation class for those that would like the chance to get all spiffed up.

What is Arena Driving?
There are three parts:

  • Dressage, using special tests suitable for an indoor arena
  • 2 obstacles, driven twice
  • a course of 10 cones.

It is very low key and great for all breeds.

Complete Arena Driving rules may be found on Page 172 in the ADS rule book or on the ADS web site: www.americandrivingsociety.org.  A copy of the Arena Driving dressage test will be emailed/mailed upon request.

  • REMOVING THE BRIDLE FROM AN ANIMAL HARNESSED TO A VEHICLE OR LEAVING AN ANIMAL UNATTENDED WHILE HITCHED ANYWHERE ON THE GROUNDS WILL RESULT IN ELIMINATION.
  • Training Level Competitors will be penalized 5 seconds for each intentional occurrence of cantering in the hazards.
  • Those driving 4-wheel vehicles must have a groom on the vehicle in hazards and cones.

Food will be available at the farm.

DIRECTIONS
From 495: Take route 2 East (exit 29). Enter the Concord rotary and stay on route 2 East past the Concord prison. Stay in the left lane and turn left at lights onto Elm Street. Take your third left onto Adams Street. Follow to the end (very residential) onto a dirt road. You will see parked trailers. There is a gate you may need to punch in a code (the code is on the key pad). You will see the indoor and parking area.
