am very excited about introducing this harness to the United States. This is a light weight leather harness built for hard work. The traces, breeching, and breast collar are made from a nylon web base, stitched between remarkably supple leather. The stitches are counter sunk into the leather to avoid abrasion to the horse, or the thread. All of the buckles have stainless steel tongues that buckle into oval punched holes. You’ll love how easily the billets slide into the stitched keepers of this supple harness.
The bridle has a cut back crown and a tapered throat lash for your horse’s comfort. The center channel of the saddle is held generously wide and high with shape retaining pads and a stainless tree. Other harness makers will charge you extra for a similar saddle because it has a “better fit”. (In other words; they can sell you a harness for one price, or you can pay more for one that was built right.) The LeatherTech single harness comes complete with quick release safety tugs designed to work with traditional or closed end marathon type shafts. The padded breeching is supported by two hip straps to ensure a comfortable fit. The breast collar has a padded neck strap and integrated traces with buckle in trace ends. This saves you the trouble of carrying several sets of traces to accommodate your different carriages. You’ll simply change the trace end for slotted, roller-bolt, or snap-shackle type single trees. This also eliminates the buckles and billets at the shoulder that sometimes can interfere with shafts or reins.
Got two, three, or four?
Perhaps the greatest thing about the LeatherTech harness is it’s versatility. With a few simple changes the LeatherTech single harness can be converted from single to a pair or leader harness. The shaft tugs can be exchanged for Conway buckles, and the hold back straps are easily switched with buckle-in breeching straps. Now your horse is ready for action next to another horse as a pair. Remove the breeching all together, add a trace carrier, and you have a leader harness for a tandem, four-in-hand or unicorn.
The LeatherTech harness is available in Pony, Cob, Horse and Draft Sizes. The leather is an attractive black & tan design with stainless furniture.
