There are a lot of great things to say about this good looking harness. The design and construction have been well thought out with input from some of Europe’s top drivers. The leather is supple and easy to handle from the first day you use it. This harness easily polishes up to a beautiful luster for presentation, and is tough enough for any marathon.
The bridle features a three piece padded noseband, a chain front browband and shaped blinders. The crown piece and throat lash have been specially shaped to accommodate your horse’s natural anatomy.
On both Wheeler and Leader harnesses the center channel of the saddle is held generously wide and high with shape retaining pads and a stainless tree to spread the load evenly away from the spine. Most harness makers will charge 30%-60% more to include such a saddle with their comparably priced harnesses. (If you do the research, you’ll find this to be true!) A two piece hip strap carries the breeching evenly for an effective line of draft.
The Wheeler Luxury English harness features a robust “Gig Saddle” pattern that can be used with all fixed shaft two or four wheel vehicles because of a sliding backstrap which reduces strain on your horses back, and comes with an "English" style shaft tug, or round tug. The Luxury English harness comes standard with Slotted end traces and leather reins. D-Ring end traces or Rollerbolt end traces may be substituted, as well as anti-slip reins, at no extra charge if specified at time of ordering.
The Wheeler Luxury Marathon saddle has a fixed backstrap and is appropriate for 4 wheel marathon vehicles with independent shaft movement, and comes with a marathon “quick release” style shaft tug, which is meant for use with a closed end shaft. The Luxury Marathon harness comes standard with D-Ring end traces and anti-slip reins. Rollerbolt end traces or Slotted Traces may be substituted, as well as leather reins, at no extra charge if specified at time of ordering.
Durability has been built into this harness. The traces, breeching, and breast collar have nylon webbing stitched between the leather. All of the buckles have stainless steel tongues that buckle into oval punched holes. The harness billets fit nicely into stitched keepers, rather than stapled box keepers found on other harnesses. You’ll love how easily the buckles can be adjusted from the first day you use this harness. Most impressively the stitches are counter sunk into the leather to prevent rubbing on your horse, or wear on the stitches.
