The CAA Driver Proficiency Program was developed to help guide new carriage drivers through suggested areas of knowledge to develop as a safe, proficient driver. The program includes 3 levels of certificates from the fundamentals of driving through Coaching. The program and corresponding certificates are not required for participation at carriage driving events or competitions, but are instead a way for a student of carriage driving to gain the piece of mind that they are following safe and traditional practices in their horse care and carriage driving.
This class will help you develop the knowledge and understanding of the subjects covered in a Level 1 DPP evaluation, the first level of the program. More than an overview, I’ll share the actual coaching that I give students who are preparing for an evaluation. You’ll learn about harness types, fitting, care, and maintenance. We’ll discuss carriage balance and safety inspections. You’ll also learn about the areas of horse care that are important to understand to earn your Level 1 Driver Proficiency Certificate.
As always, you can ask all of the questions you want during the live session.
ALL REGISTRANTS WILL RECEIVE A RECORDING OF THE CLASS. The recording can be downloaded and viewed for up to 90 days after the class. Even if you can’t be there for the live session, you’ll still get to see the whole class.
This class is so jam-packed full of useful information, that even if you are not considering getting a Driver’s Proficiency Certificate, you should watch the class anyway. Sign up now so you don’t forget!
